Il giorno giovedì 16 Maggio 2019 si è tenuto presso lo spazio COFÒ di Cinisello Balsamo il primo incontro preparatorio del progetto “Be Active Shape Europe” (Base), che ha visto il coinvolgimento di 15 giovani cittadini, tra studenti e volontari del Servizio Civile Universale e la facilitazione dello staff dell’Ufficio Progetti per i Giovani e per l’Innovazione Sociale del Comune di Cinisello Balsamo.
L’obiettivo dell’attività è stato quello di raccogliere idee, condividere proposte e domande in vista dell’incontro tra i giovani, il Sindaco e la Giunta che si terrà a giugno presso la Sala Giunta, al Primo Piano del Municipio.
Il progetto europeo “Be Active Shape Europe” (BASE), all’interno del Programma “Europa per i Cittadini” si propone di affrontare il tema della cittadinanza attiva, uno dei valori dell’Unione Europea, mettendo in relazione politici locali e giovani cittadini. BASE, in particolare, mira a stimolare i giovani a partecipare attivamente alla vita politica a livello sia locale che europeo.
Il progetto è finanziato dalla Commissione Europea tramite il programma “Europa per i Cittadini”, e si sta sviluppando parallelamente a diversi partner quali Grecia, Regno Unito, Slovenia, Portogallo e Bulgaria.
Durante l’incontro del 16 maggio è stato presentato il progetto e i suoi obiettivi; è stato inoltre importante il momento di spiegazione sul funzionamento della macchina comunale, utile a capire le figure chiave in grado di prendere decisioni, sulla base del consenso democratico.
Successivamente abbiamo riflettuto insieme sul tema della cittadinanza attiva, attraverso un dibattito e dei lavori di gruppo. Le domande che hanno stimolato l’elaborazione delle proposte sono state:
– Come immaginate l’incontro con l’amministrazione?
Secondo te questa opportunità sarebbe necessaria per i giovani ?
Come i giovani possono influenzare le decisioni e avere un ruolo attivo nella società?
Se aveste 5 minuti per parlare con gli amministratori, cosa gli direste?
Dai lavori di gruppo è emersa l’importanza:
- di creare un meccanismo per dare e ricevere feedback come strumento di una comunicazione aperta, che da un lato consentirebbe all’amministrazione comunale di conoscere le aspettative dei giovani, e dall’altro sarebbe utile per far capire ai giovani come l’amministrazione comunale vede la costruzione e proseguimento della comunicazione con loro, la modalità per la cooperazione, gli obiettivi da raggiungere e gli ostacoli da superare;
- di creare spazi fisici e virtuali che vengano ufficialmente riconosciuti dall’amministrazione comunale. Lo spazio sarebbe creato allo scopo di poter avere la possibilità di confrontarsi e interagire con la Giunta. In particolare, emerge la necessità di strutturare momenti in cui i giovani possano porre delle domande alla Giunta, per capire meglio cosa è possibile fare per migliorare la città dal loro punto di vista;
- Di allargare la rete di servizi, in modo tale che ci siano più attività commerciali gestite da giovani e un supporto alla promozione degli eventi per il target 15-30 anni;
- incrementare i servizi di trasporto pubblico;
- promuovere progetti per l’inserimento dei giovani nel mondo del lavoro.

The Community Enterprise of the Municipality of Thessaloniki (KEDITH) held the first meeting organized as part of the project “Be Active – Shape Europe”, funded by the Europe for Citizens Program.
In the multi-purpose room of the Youth Information Office of the General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and Youth in the Port of Thessaloniki, a structured dialogue event was held entitled “Young people get their future in their hands!”.
The aim of the project is to bring young people closer to different European municipalities and to create a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and practices in the field of youth work.
The first meeting discussed the strengthening of young people’s interest in European political life and the promotion of active citizenship and participation in political processes, such as the European elections of 2019.

The Community Benefit Enterprise of Thessaloniki Municipality – KEDITH invited you to participate to the first meeting planned in the framework of the project “Be active – Shape Europe”, funded by the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Union. The Kick off Event will be held on Monday 06/05/2019 at 11:00-14:00 to the multiple usage room of the Office for Youth Information of the General Secretariat for Life Long Learning and Youth to the Thessaloniki Port, Dock A (Thessaloniki Port Authority Office Block, Last Building after Port Warehouse C).
Structured Dialogue: Young Europeans shape their future!
The structured dialogue is a debate among young people, civil society, Local Authorities, stakeholders and experts on our agenda. The structured dialogue will be open to anyone wishing to participate. During this dialogue the participants will have the chance to express their opinion and discuss with policy makers on an equal basis.
Objectives of the First Meeting:
– support the interest of youth to the European political life
– promotion of youth engagement and active European citizenship
Participants’ profile:
- Youth aged between 15-30 years old
- Students of Secondary Education
- University Students
Certificates of Attendance will be distributed
About the Project: The “BASE” project is developed by 6 Municipalities of the Intercity Youth Network recognizing the importance to jointly address the subject of youth engagement and active European citizenship. The long-term aim of the project is to raise young people’s awareness, enhance their interest in political and civic life ending up at raising their engagement to political procedures such as European elections 2019.
Young people and decision makers from 6 different countries will meet and discuss issues such as the values of democracy, multiculturalism and social cohesion. Their interaction and the exchange of best practices among them will result in raising of active citizenship, re-consideration of their perceptions towards European values and contemplation about further involvement in society and political life.
The expected outcome of the project is the motivation of young people and their participation in political life respecting diverse identities, cultural differences and various political aspects, especially in European Elections of 2019.
Young people, civil society, local authorities, policy makers and stakeholders of EU will participate to the workshops and discussions for the future of EU contributing to a paper that will be developed including proposals for the support of democratic engagement, direct democracy and youth engagement.
