The Community Benefit Enterprise of Thessaloniki Municipality – KEDITH invited you to participate to the first meeting planned in the framework of the project “Be active – Shape Europe”, funded by the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Union. The Kick off Event will be held on Monday 06/05/2019 at 11:00-14:00 to the multiple usage room of the Office for Youth Information of the General Secretariat for Life Long Learning and Youth to the Thessaloniki Port, Dock A (Thessaloniki Port Authority Office Block, Last Building after Port Warehouse C).

Structured Dialogue: Young Europeans shape their future!

The structured dialogue is a debate among young people, civil society, Local Authorities, stakeholders and experts on our agenda. The structured dialogue will be open to anyone wishing to participate. During this dialogue the participants will have the chance to express their opinion and discuss with policy makers on an equal basis.

Objectives of the First Meeting:

– support the interest of youth to the European political life

– promotion of youth engagement and active European citizenship

Participants’ profile:

  • Youth aged between 15-30 years old
  • Students of Secondary Education
  • University Students

About the Project: The “BASE” project is developed by 6 Municipalities of the Intercity Youth Network recognizing the importance to jointly address the subject of youth engagement and active European citizenship. The long-term aim of the project is to raise young people’s awareness, enhance their interest in political and civic life ending up at raising their engagement to political procedures such as European elections 2019.

Young people and decision makers from 6 different countries will meet and discuss issues such as the values of democracy, multiculturalism and social cohesion. Their interaction and the exchange of best practices among them will result in raising of active citizenship, re-consideration of their perceptions towards European values and contemplation about further involvement in society and political life.

The expected outcome of the project is the motivation of young people and their participation in political life respecting diverse identities, cultural differences and various political aspects, especially in European Elections of 2019.

Young people, civil society, local authorities, policy makers and stakeholders of EU will participate to the workshops and discussions for the future of EU contributing to a paper that will be developed including proposals for the support of democratic engagement, direct democracy and youth engagement.
